I still don’t really know what I want.
Thanks for reading!

Oh man I really wish Toyota sold us the 4th gen wagon! Yeah I know it’s a step down from the 3rd gen since it only has one rear wiper, but still, wagons are awesome, and Toyota wagons are even more awesome!!!!

But what do you need?
![]() 08/20/2016 at 14:12 |

What are your requirements in a vehicle, and your price cap?
![]() 08/20/2016 at 14:13 |

Need: backseat
Want: modern power conveniences and A/C
NO: sedans, new cars

Price range?
I mean, the RX-8 could be a possibility, as the rear doors make it easier to get into the back. But then you have an RX-8.

If it’s another old Toyota, $3k cap
If it’s a nice car for once, maybe $8k
Need a backseat, air conditioning. No sedans.
![]() 08/20/2016 at 14:16 |

I’ll say no to that. Budget is $8k, would rather spend much less.

Good news! Find one with a blown motor and they're way below budget.

Why not? It’s a Toyota hatchback with a backseat and air con. It may not be inspiring to drive, but think of how much money it will save that could be put towards louvers and wheels and whatnot for the Celica.

What are you looking for? Sometimes you have to change the way you look at a car to find new options. Example, I wanted a V8, RWD, very wide luxury wagon with low miles, durability, and runs on regular grade fuel for under $24k. I realized that a 2011-13 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Laredo X package was dead on. I bought it for $21,987 with 31,619 miles on it. Best vehicle I’ve ever had, cheaper upkeep than my old Kia Rio. I also have put 44,000 miles on it in the year I’ve owned it without any issues. Would recommend all day, 4x2, V8, WK2 is a steal.

Not bad

I’m looking for something that will tickle my fancy but will have enough convenience to justify its existence that it would be a vehicle I could live with.

I’ll ship you a 25+ year old BMW E30 wagon for $8k. AC optional, as is the combination 6 cylinder + rust free-ish (choose one).

I think this has a back seat
![]() 08/20/2016 at 14:33 |

I was looking up what is cost to ship something from Australia. It was like: $2k for a Diesel Surf (nice!), then an additional $6k for everything else. So much for that pipe dream.

You need something old enough to still be interesting and cool but new enough to be convenient and comfortable.

Wait, what? Wow, um. I missed that big time. Maybe a 2ZZ Matrix?

Saturn Astra? The cleanest, lowest mileage one in the US would still only be $7,000 list price and sell for $5,500.
![]() 08/20/2016 at 14:51 |

I do really like those. I just keep running in circles with realizations like how I could get a 1998 4Runner for less than an Astra.

You could grab a Subaru SVX too. In fact, $5k would get you two of three without issue and $8k would get you all three!

Zoidberg, if you’re anything like me, you’ll go with a 2011 Honda CR-Z:
They’re starting to go for cheap these days. The one I’m looking at is a CVT, but they do come in Manuals. Here is the one I’m looking at. Here is the cheapest manual at $5,999.
